Join Artforum as a Managing Editor!
Artforum, the prestigious magazine at the forefront of contemporary art, is seeking a seasoned Managing Editor to become a vital part of our editorial team. This role reports directly to the co-editors and the Publishers, and is pivotal in overseeing both print and web workflows. The Managing Editor will coordinate and monitor the journey of editorial material from initial commissioning through to final publication.
Your responsibilities will include managing the publication calendar, balancing workloads among editors, overseeing the editorial budget, scheduling meetings, establishing protocols, and maintaining shared editorial style guides and resources.
Furthermore, you will directly supervise the editorial production staff, which includes in-house Design and Photo directors, freelance editors, fact-checkers, and researchers. You will also oversee the preparation of files for print, ensuring accuracy through correction entry and meticulous galley adjustments.
The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and thrives under pressure, with a proven ability to lead teams and enforce deadlines for both staff and contributors.
