As the Associate Director for Fellowship and Residency Programs, you will play a pivotal role in the field by training and educating medical professionals at designated Teaching Institutions. Your responsibilities will include assisting surgeons during surgeries, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes, and providing education on AbbVie technologies, particularly within the Eye Care Franchise portfolio focusing on Surgical and Buy and Bill procedural products.
Your primary objective will be to facilitate the effective implementation of training labs, surgical support, and comprehensive product and disease state education. You will also assist in transitioning Fellows and Residents into private practice by connecting them with their respective sales teams. Key responsibilities will encompass products related to Interventional Glaucoma and Retina.
Key Responsibilities:
Training:
- Accompany surgeons and fellows during surgeries until they demonstrate proficiency and confidence.
- Conduct detailed wet lab training sessions at targeted institutions.
- Participate in surgical cases to provide updates on advanced techniques aimed at improving surgical outcomes.
- Educate PGY3-4 residents, Glaucoma and Retina fellows, and faculty on cutting-edge MIGS/Interventional Glaucoma technology and the evolving therapy landscape.
- Train clinic staff and physicians to identify patient types suitable for AbbVie technologies.
Product Integration:
- Collaborate with departmental leaders (Academic Chairs, Program Directors, Coordinators) to assess the educational needs related to AbbVie technologies annually.
- Work with hospital administrators and material managers to secure approval for AbbVie technologies in assigned accounts.
- Coordinate with surgeons and staff regarding medical inquiries or reimbursement processes related to AbbVie technologies.
Meetings and Education:
- Facilitate training and educational meetings with residents, fellows, clinic staff, and program heads to promote AbbVie technologies and explore future opportunities.
- Support educational symposiums and meetings sponsored by accounts.
- Engage in relevant Ophthalmic Conferences and Symposia throughout the year.
- Identify and nurture relationships with academic Key Opinion Leaders.
- Assist in the seamless transition of graduating residents and fellows to their respective Sales Representatives.
