A deep understanding of both MV and LV systems is essential.Required to follow VP Engineering Procedures and comply with MHSA regulations.Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems.

About the job

As a Master Electrician at Valterra Platinum, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Electrical Foreman, adhering to the provisions of the MHSA Act 29 of 1996. This position requires a blend of advanced theoretical and practical electrical knowledge as aligned with a comprehensive skills matrix and development plan. Your primary responsibilities will include the maintenance, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems in our machinery and equipment to ensure compliance with VP operational standards.

  • Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies, including HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA, on existing and modified processes, while establishing effective risk management controls.
  • Conduct process safety management assessments and reviews at Valterra Platinum, including project toll-gate reviews and operational risk evaluations.
  • Ensure timely identification and closure of PSM improvement actions stemming from PHA findings and PSM compliance audits.
  • Provide expert process safety management guidance to design, construction, maintenance engineers, and operating personnel.
  • Support the Group's development initiatives and spearhead the deployment of Process Safety Management training and toolkits for relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in conducting Tier 1 and 2 Process Safety Event investigations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the reliability, safety, and health standards within the integrated risk management framework.

This is a band 8 role reporting directly to the Electrical Foreman.
