Mechanical Engineer III
Location: Richmond, VA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (9/80 schedule with every other Friday off)
Contract Duration: 12 months with potential for extension
Project Overview:
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the main condenser replacement project. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing design modifications, crafting procurement specifications, supporting on-site implementations, conducting vendor document reviews as the owner's representative, visiting vendor facilities as needed, and assessing technical bids from vendors and installers.
Essential Qualifications:
Key Skills Required:
1) Hands-on experience with Heat Exchangers (Feedwater Heaters and/or steam surface condensers) is essential.
2) Proficient in preparing specifications for any utility.
3) Comfortable with both office and field tasks, particularly in supporting implementation as a design engineer.
Additional Skill Requirements:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proven ability to lead, collaborate, and work effectively within diverse teams, including multi-disciplinary groups.
· Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
Desirable Skills:
· Familiarity with the Commercial Nuclear Standard Design Change Process (IP-ENG-001) is a plus.
· Knowledge in pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, materials, thermal performance, fluids analysis, and general mechanical systems is desirable.
· Understanding of relevant codes and standards, including ASME B&PV, ASME PTC, ANSI, ASTM, HEI, and TEMA.
· A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience Requirement: Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. Candidates with degrees in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields may be considered if they meet other experience criteria.
Preferred Experience: Experience in the US Commercial Nuclear Industry is highly preferred.
· Proficiency in MS Teams is also a plus.
