ABOUT THE JOB
In the role of Mechanical Engineer within our Manufacturing team, you will be tasked with designing intricate mechanical assemblies for PCBA and product testing systems. Your responsibilities include creating fixtures with precise tolerances and both pneumatic and manually actuated assemblies. You should possess experience in developing surfaces to support, jig, and clamp our shipping products. Your expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) will guide product design teams, facilitating complex analyses with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools. The team will construct and procure large electromechanical fixtures for manufacturing test systems, where your CAD designs, system-level architecture, and experience with sensors and actuators will be crucial in modernizing our arsenal.
This position will begin with a temporary assignment in Santa Ana, CA for a three-month training period before relocating to Asheville, OH.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design mechanical assemblies to test various products using professional CAD tools.
- Collaborate with rapid fabrication teams or external suppliers to source necessary equipment.
- Integrate your designs into Anduril’s Product Data Management (PDM) systems, following the same processes utilized by our product design teams.
- Collaborate with design teams to incorporate mechanical DFM and DFT criteria into our products.
- Develop complex electromechanical systems within a multidisciplinary team, directly working with software and electrical engineers to solve manufacturing and testing challenges across land and sea.
- Create clear test work instructions for technicians within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and provide training on equipment usage as needed.
- Identify root causes of product failures and propose appropriate corrective actions (Root Cause Corrective Actions - RCCA).
- Analyze test data, document findings, and deliver detailed reports to identify defects and improvement opportunities.
- Engage with design engineers to offer insights and suggestions for product enhancements based on testing outcomes.
