As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will prioritize safety while managing the operations of the Mechanical Shop. Your role will involve overseeing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mill equipment in accordance with established protocols and mill policies. You will be instrumental in enhancing employee skills to adapt to evolving technologies. Your coordination with fellow Supervisors, Planners, Reliability Engineers, and Operations Maintenance Coordinators will ensure the timely and effective completion of maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion safety in all aspects of the role.
- Oversee incident investigations regarding substandard conditions, near misses, and injuries.
- Ensure compliance with environmental system processes.
- Administer company policies effectively.
- Utilize precision maintenance techniques to ensure quality work is performed safely.
- Manage conflict resolution and maintain necessary staffing levels.
- Exhibit strong communication skills throughout the organization.
- Facilitate employee onboarding and succession planning.
- Maintain effective relationships with operations, maintenance personnel, vendors, contractors, and engineers.
- Collaborate with Engineering, production, and various departments to estimate priorities, schedule tasks, and manage shop personnel.
- Monitor work order backlogs to identify deficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Track daily and weekly progress of scheduled work.
- Collect job feedback to enhance future work processes.
- Assist other Mechanical Supervisors with daily shop operations as needed.
- Review and approve discretionary spending and manage purchase requisitions and job invoices effectively.
- Contribute to capital budgeting, recommending necessary equipment replacements and upgrades to reduce maintenance costs and downtime.
- Participate in outage planning.
- Take part in the On-Call Supervisor Rotation.
- Demonstrate forward-thinking and proactive approaches in driving continuous improvement.
· Ability to manage deadlines and variable workloads; availability for 24-hour on-call duties when necessary.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Scheduling, PM/PdM, and 6S methodologies.
· Act as a change agent by executing continuous improvement programs.
