Preferred: Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline; candidates with an undergraduate degree and relevant experience will also be considered.Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the role of Medical Affairs in achieving scientific and medical objectives.Expertise in clinical research methodologies and current legislative/regulatory standards.Ability to rapidly assimilate knowledge in new subject areas.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of building collaborative relationships with thought leaders and healthcare decision makers.Proficiency in written and spoken English is highly desirable.Demonstrated customer orientation.

PURPOSE:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a pivotal role within AbbVie's medical department, focusing on fostering scientific and medical engagement with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and thought leaders in the field of immunology. The MSL is dedicated to delivering scientific insights and facilitating meaningful discussions about AbbVie’s marketed products and the compounds in development. This role requires adherence to applicable regulations, guidelines, and AbbVie’s internal policies.

MSLs enhance AbbVie’s scientific reputation by supporting research collaborations and facilitating requests for medical information. Additionally, they play a significant role in the management of non-interventional clinical studies and medical projects within the department, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a subject matter expert in immunology, establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external experts and healthcare professionals.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external experts within a designated geographic area, addressing their needs for scientific information related to AbbVie’s therapeutic areas.
  • Develop and implement scientific interaction and cycle plans, contributing to the broader account planning initiatives.
  • Ensure proper documentation and tiering of healthcare professional interactions based on internal guidelines.
  • Establish AbbVie's presence in key academic centers through research facilitation and educational initiatives.
  • Support internal teams, including marketing and sales, with scientific presentations to enhance their expertise.
