Job Purpose: As a Metal Fabricator Apprentice at Navantia UK, you will engage in hands-on fabrication of metal components, contributing to our production efforts. This apprenticeship offers an exceptional opportunity to gain practical skills and experience in a dynamic industrial environment.
What You Will Learn:
- Master hand fitting techniques for component production.
- Produce metal components and assemblies with precision.
- Prepare and operate thermal cutting equipment.
- Utilize Computer Aided Drawing (C.A.D) for design processes.
- Understand core fabrication and welding principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain safety protocols in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Plan and prepare for fabrication activities effectively.
- Ensure materials meet specified grades, dimensions, and thicknesses as per engineering drawings.
- Utilize appropriate methods for moving and handling materials safely.
- Set up, check, and adjust fabrication equipment for optimal performance.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to mark out and assemble complex fabricated products to required standards.
- Employ suitable tools and techniques to shape and form metal materials while understanding their properties.
- Monitor production processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Operate tools for cutting, drilling, and preparing metal materials accurately.
- Join metal components using appropriate fasteners and techniques, adhering to quality requirements.
- Inspect welds for security and conduct quality checks on finished components and assemblies.
- Address fabrication-related issues in line with responsibilities.
