Position Overview
The Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) Installation Manager will be at the forefront of overseeing the installation and quality assurance of thermal insulation systems, which are vital for optimal spacecraft performance. This role entails leading a team of skilled technicians, ensuring that all MLI installations adhere to rigorous thermal, cleanliness, and contamination control standards.
This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and program management teams to ensure high-quality hardware is delivered on time. The MLI Installation Manager will play an essential role in translating design specifications into practical applications within a dynamic aerospace production setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all MLI installation activities within production and integration operations.
- Supervise and mentor a team of specialized technicians, offering daily guidance and support.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering teams to develop and standardize installation processes.
- Ensure insulation systems comply with thermal performance, cleanliness, and contamination control requirements.
- Coordinate efforts with engineering, manufacturing, and program management to align with build schedules and project milestones.
- Implement and uphold quality assurance and inspection protocols for MLI systems.
- Track project progress, resource allocation, and team productivity to guarantee efficient workflows.
- Identify and address technical challenges related to insulation performance, fit, or installation constraints.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in testing, verification, and validation activities for thermal insulation systems.
- Provide hands-on training, mentorship, and technical support to team members.
