Key Responsibilities
As a Network Administrator, you will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of our network infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, wireless controllers, and other network hardware using industry-standard tools and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Cisco best practices during all installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Implement necessary additions, changes, and updates to network configurations as required.
Monitoring & Operations Support
- Monitor environmental conditions in data centers and network closets to guarantee optimal operating environments.
- Utilize network management tools and testing equipment for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of telecommunications circuits, including DWDM optical circuits.
- Address Work Requests from the Service Desk and monitor resolution processes through established systems.
- Execute notification and escalation protocols as defined by the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
- Collaborate with the Service Desk and stakeholders to coordinate service status updates and issue resolutions.
Documentation & Configuration Management
- Utilize ServiceNow to document all changes related to switch runs, network closets, and monument setups.
- Maintain comprehensive network equipment records within automated systems.
- Regularly update network maps and manage configuration documentation to ensure accuracy.
- Document, monitor, and track all work diligently using Footprints.
- Ensure high standards of documentation quality and completeness at all times.
- Prepare and present required technical and status reports.
Communication & Representation
- Effectively engage with technical staff, management, and client stakeholders.
- Attend meetings as an OCIO telecommunications representative and Subject Matter Expert when requested by the Library.
- Provide clear updates regarding network status, incidents, and maintenance activities.
