About the job
The Electrophysiology/Arrhythmia (EP) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) opportunity at the Betty Irene Moore Children’s Heart Center invites you to become part of a vibrant, interdisciplinary team of electrophysiologists and APPs dedicated to providing exceptional heart rhythm care for pediatric patients and their families. Located in Palo Alto, CA at the renowned Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital - Stanford (LPCH), this role involves supporting the EP service across outpatient, inpatient, and perioperative environments.
The EP patient demographic primarily includes children with structurally normal hearts and those with congenital heart conditions from birth through young adulthood (approximately 21 years). In collaboration with the Stanford Medicine Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Program, we also extend our care to older patients with congenital heart disease and heart rhythm disorders. Common conditions managed include supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, inherited arrhythmia syndromes (such as Long QT Syndrome, Brugada Syndrome, and CPVT), alongside various cardiomyopathies (including hypertrophic and dilated forms). As part of the Betty Irene Moore Heart Center, our team addresses a wide range of congenital heart lesions, engaging with a diverse and dynamic patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preoperative histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and provide education to families and patients undergoing procedures in the Electrophysiology Laboratory (EP Lab).
- Manage postoperative care and discharge for patients following EP Lab procedures.
- Oversee interrogation and management of implantable cardiac rhythm devices, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, and loop recorders, in various settings (outpatient, inpatient, and during device implantation) (on-the-job training will be provided).
- Assist with additional duties to support the Electrophysiology service, such as patient consultations via phone, MyChart, and medication refill requests.
This position offers numerous learning opportunities, including weekly educational conferences, monthly APP Grand Rounds, and regular case discussions. There are also chances to engage with the broader APP community within Stanford Children’s Health and nationally.
The ideal candidate is a proactive and self-motivated practitioner with outstanding communication skills, sound judgment, and a keen attention to detail. There is potential for the APP role to expand beyond the listed duties, possibly including responsibilities in outpatient EP clinics or inpatient consultations, depending on the successful applicant's interests.
We welcome applicants from all experience levels. While prior cardiology or electrophysiology experience is preferred, it is not a prerequisite.
