JOB SUMMARY
As an OB Technician in Labor and Delivery, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical procedures under medical supervision. You will be responsible for maintaining a well-stocked and functional operating room or Labor/Delivery/Recovery (LDR) area, ensuring all equipment is operational, and supporting the registered nurse (RN) in delivering high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients and families with daily activities such as eating, dressing, and bathing, while also diligently collecting and reporting patient data in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This role encompasses a variety of essential tasks typical for an OB Technician, which may include but are not limited to the following:
- After receiving proper training and demonstrating competency, set up and scrub for cesarean sections, postpartum tubal ligations, cervical cerclage, dilatation and curettage, and emergency abdominal hysterectomies.
- Adhere to established aseptic techniques and infection control policies.
- Prepare C-Section rooms for emergency procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Manage the stock of operating room supplies and check the functionality of epidural carts and anesthesia machines.
- Oversee the maintenance and inventory of medical equipment in designated utility rooms.
- Assist in performing and facilitating patient treatments and procedures.
All employees must comply with Joint Commission standards, emphasizing patient rights, safety, ethical treatment, teamwork, and ongoing professional education.
