The Nurse Clinician will be a vital member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, requiring outstanding interpersonal abilities to foster strong relationships with patients, physicians, and administrative staff. This role involves utilizing nursing expertise to conduct thorough patient assessments either via phone or in person and implementing appropriate nursing interventions. The ability to exercise sound judgment, independent thought, and creativity in addressing patient care challenges is essential. Additionally, the Nurse Clinician will be responsible for initiating and coordinating patient education tailored to the specific needs of our patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a Safe and Clean Work Environment: Adhere to OSHA regulations, promptly report any deficiencies to supervisors, and assist in addressing issues as required. Take charge of the care and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Conduct Comprehensive Pre-Attending Care: Assess each patient's primary complaint and needs through the nursing process, provide solutions and insights to healthcare providers, and meticulously document all assessments in patient medical records while maintaining confidentiality.
- Demonstrate Clinical Competence: Independently perform routine nursing tasks, including phlebotomy, medication administration, and vital sign measurements. Show proficiency in complex procedures such as conscious sedation, chemotherapy administration, and wound care.
- Analyze Test Results: Interpret and act on abnormalities detected in tests, documenting all interventions appropriately.
- Facilitate Communication: Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure coordinated patient care and liaise with external agencies as necessary.
- Triage Incoming Calls: Utilize clinical assessment skills to prioritize and document incoming calls, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
