The Oncology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific authority who strategically aligns with the scientific and business goals of AbbVie within the oncology therapeutic area throughout the product life cycle for the Western United States. The MSL serves as the primary liaison for communicating AbbVie's scientific advancements to healthcare professionals, utilizing their clinical expertise and therapeutic area knowledge to facilitate information exchange and support AbbVie initiatives. The role emphasizes building and sustaining professional relationships with medical professionals, researchers, and academic institutions to deliver comprehensive medical and scientific insights on current and emerging therapies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve expertise in scientific content, disease states, and therapeutic areas to position oneself as a leading scientific authority.
- Establish and nurture professional collaborations with key thought leaders and academic centers to ensure access to pertinent medical and scientific information.
- Deliver presentations on scientific data related to disease states, the therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products to a broad audience including physicians and researchers.
- Support AbbVie’s research initiatives and physician-led projects by facilitating site evaluations, recruitment, and collaboration management.
- Serve as an internal medical and scientific resource for the development of disease-state communications and materials, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams to develop and implement account strategies that meet shared business objectives.
- Provide ongoing training and support to medical affairs and sales teams, ensuring they have the latest clinical and competitor insights.
- Utilize strategic segmentation and resource optimization to maximize impact.
- Adhere to corporate and divisional policies and compliance regulations.
