The Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing shipping and receiving operations, overseeing both inbound and outbound grain shipments at a high-capacity export grain elevator for a global leader in agricultural goods merchandising and processing.
Rail Unload Operations
- Oversee daily rail unloading activities.
- Process car lists and grading information from incoming trains sourced from our web and Kansas City offices.
- Document the number of railcars present in the yard and input them into the computer system.
- Communicate binning information to longshoremen.
- Collect grain samples for quality assurance.
- Input grain grading details into the inventory system.
- Release empty railcars through the railroad website and elevator computer system.
Ship Loading Operations
- Supervise ship loading processes.
- Update inventory stock levels daily.
- Blend grains effectively and liaise with stevedores to ensure compliance with U.S. Grain Standards Act during loading operations.
Safety and Administrative Operations
- Conduct inspections of the elevator, ensuring mechanical equipment, rail tracks, and sanitary conditions meet safety standards.
- Ensure all safety equipment is functioning correctly.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to schedule necessary repairs.
- Issue essential Company permits for specific tasks.
- Train new laborers as required.
- Facilitate safety meetings and monitor compliance with safety and company policies among employees and contractors.
- Perform weekly data entry of longshore payroll to the PMA.
- Assist management in logistics, maintenance, and overall operations as needed.
