Oramenta Newsome Community Development Fellowship
The Oramenta Newsome Community Development Fellowship is a ten-week paid opportunity running from late May to early August, designed for individuals passionate about community development. This fellowship aims to support affordable housing, economic development, sustainability, and other community-focused projects in the D.C. area. Fellows will be placed with LISC DC partner nonprofit organizations in Washington, D.C. or nearby areas like Prince George’s County.
Oramenta Newsome served as the Executive Director of LISC DC for nearly 25 years, embodying a balance of local neighborhood focus and a national perspective. Her lifelong commitment was to enhance the quality of life for residents in Washington, D.C., ensuring access to housing, employment, and essential resources.
In continuing her legacy, we invest in projects that remove barriers to opportunity and close wealth gaps, moving towards her vision of a fair, community-driven city. This fellowship honors her unwavering dedication to community development.
Key Details About the Fellowship:
- Fellows will be placed with local nonprofit organizations engaged in community development projects throughout Washington, D.C. This includes affordable housing developers, community development corporations, workforce training providers, and organizations supporting small businesses and commercial corridors.
