Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer to take charge of the design and deployment of fiber optics in various regions of the Domestic United States, including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. This role requires professional representation of the company to both internal and external stakeholders, including customers, utilities, municipalities, and contractors. The ideal candidate will effectively collaborate across functional teams, including RF Engineering, Operations, Regulatory, Finance, Product Development, and Supply Chain Management, to meet implementation objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre and post-sales activities, including:
- Creating high-level fiber designs through both desktop analysis and field evaluations.
- Constructing cost estimation models using preliminary design data in Excel.
- Performing right-of-way analyses for proposed fiber installations, identifying necessary utility and permit applications.
- Collaborating with utilities for underground and aerial right-of-way applications, managing the utility make-ready process during construction.
- Overseeing municipal and state fiber permit processes for projects.
- Managing contractor qualifications and the bidding process for engineering and construction contracts.
- Coordinating with suppliers and vendors throughout engineering and construction phases, ensuring compliance with budget and schedules.
- Working alongside project managers and other internal customers to ensure project completion within budget and on time.
- Handling the ordering, receiving, and deployment of materials necessary for project support.
- Maintaining oversight of multiple projects and travel to various project locations across the United States.
- Enhancing fiber engineering designs for optimization and value.
- Developing and managing fiber splice documentation, including splice diagrams, spider maps, OTDR, and Power Meter readings.
