Salary: $20 - $21 per hour

Shelter House has been a beacon of hope since 1981, responding effectively to the homelessness crisis in Fairfax County. About the Role:
As a Cook at the Kennedy Shelter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our commercial kitchen, preparing and serving nutritious meals to our residents.
Your Contributions:
- Prepare and serve well-balanced meals in accordance with federal and state nutritional guidelines, including bag lunches and late dinners for working residents.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of essential food items and oversee inventory management within established budgetary constraints.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper sanitation of kitchen equipment and food preparation areas in compliance with health department regulations.
- Receive food donations and manage kitchen volunteers effectively.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Exhibit a caring and respectful attitude towards residents, adhering to shelter guidelines and procedures.
- Accommodate special dietary needs and requests from residents.
- Stay informed about emergency safety protocols related to kitchen and shelter operations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to residents, addressing their needs with professionalism and kindness.
- Utilize Microsoft Suite applications effectively in daily tasks.

- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
