As a Health Unit Coordinator, you will execute unit-based reception, clerical, medical record, and patient registration tasks. You must prioritize effectively and manage emergency situations calmly. The role is customer-focused, necessitating effective communication with staff, patients, and their families. In collaboration with the charge RN and/or assistant manager, you will oversee the overall workflow of the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor and appearance.
Deliver timely and accurate information to patients and their families.
Promptly address inquiries or refer them to the suitable personnel.
Assist patients and families in navigating the facility.
Utilize effective service recovery skills to address and resolve service issues.
Foster teamwork by assisting colleagues across departments.
Communicate respectfully and recognize the contributions of team members.
Utilize departmental resources efficiently.
Manage work schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in cost reduction and service enhancement efforts.
Coordinate with the Manager and Charge Nurse on all tasks.
Communicate effectively with management, staff, and physicians.
Collaborate with other departments to address patient needs comprehensively.
Collect laboratory results and inform the nursing staff accordingly.
Interact professionally with patients and families, providing necessary explanations and reassurance.
Prepare and maintain medical records for admissions and discharges in an organized manner.
Ensure accurate assembly of medical records in chronological order.
Secure required signatures and documents.
