Under the supervision of a registered nurse (inpatient) or licensed health professional (outpatient), you will assist in the care of individuals and groups of patients while maintaining a therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the initial and ongoing identification of patient problems and strengths.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop effective treatment plans.
- Communicate patient status to registered nurses or licensed health professionals.
- Facilitate individual and group interventions as directed by licensed health professionals.
- Lead or co-lead supportive groups as designated by management.
- Assist patients in developing social, daily living, and problem-solving skills through various interactions.
- Respond to patient needs and requests promptly.
- Enhance patient relationships within the therapeutic milieu.
- Foster a communicative and cooperative environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Recognize personal role limitations and utilize appropriate clinical resources.
- Document clinical information accurately and in a timely manner in patient medical records.
- Contribute to a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures for patient care.
Additional Functions:
- Assist patients with self-care routines such as bathing, dressing, and hygiene.
- Utilize established communication channels to resolve work-related issues.
- Model the “Patient First” standards.
- Engage in unit meetings and Psychiatry Open Forums.
- Participate in orienting new mental health workers and staff as appropriate.
- Meet mandatory training requirements.
- Identify areas for performance improvement and pursue educational opportunities.
- Participate in departmental training, workshops, and seminars.
- Share knowledge and information with colleagues.
- Engage in Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Take initiative to assist with the overall unit workload.
- Identify and communicate trends to management and propose recommendations for improvement.
- Observe and document patient verbal and behavioral interactions.
