Key Responsibilities
As a part-time Veterinarian, you will play a vital role in supporting our Laboratory Animal Facility through hands-on veterinary and in vivo activities while ensuring full regulatory compliance as the Project Licence Holder (Tierversuchsleiter:in). Your responsibilities will include the planning, execution, and oversight of animal experiments in preclinical and GMP-compliant environments, upholding the highest standards of animal welfare and scientific integrity.
- Assist and substitute for the Named Veterinary Surgeon (Tierärztliche Leitung (AT), Versuchstierarzt), focusing on operational and hands-on activities, including direct monitoring of animal health, clinical assessments, and daily veterinary tasks within the facility
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on training for staff, including both classroom and practical in vivo training (e.g., i.p. injection techniques)
- Act as the Project Licence Holder under the Austrian Animal Experiments Act (TVG 2012) and manage animal experiment applications
- Conduct veterinary examinations for animals involved in medicinal product testing (AMBO 2009)
- Oversee regulatory reporting and maintain statistics related to animal use for scientific purposes
- Support the Animal Welfare Officer (Ger. „Tierschutzbeauftragte“)
- Conduct hands-on in vivo experiments while ensuring adherence to high scientific and ethical standards
- Plan and coordinate GMP in vivo assays in collaboration with internal teams
- Assist R&D with in vivo study planning and execution alongside preclinical and clinical teams
- Manage GMP documentation, quality reviews, equipment qualifications, and laboratory records in accordance with internal SOPs
