Join us as a dedicated Youth Tennis Coach in San Leandro for the Winter/Spring 2026 season!
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people? As a Youth Tennis Coach with America's Next Talented Stars (ANTS), you will have the opportunity to lead or assist in an engaging after-school tennis program for children aged 5-10. No prior coaching experience is necessary; we provide comprehensive training for all our coaches!
The upcoming Winter/Spring season runs from February to May 2026, and we require availability for the entire duration. Your weekly time commitment will range from 1 to 10 hours, depending on the number of classes you choose to teach.
We supply all essential training, equipment, and support. Coaching with ANTS offers a rewarding way to develop your skills while contributing to the community. Our partner schools and communities span across Oakland, Alameda, San Leandro, San Francisco, and Walnut Creek, with classes held at local parks, tennis courts, and elementary schools. Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate enjoyable and safe weekly tennis sessions for kids aged 5-10.
- Instruct foundational tennis skills through a structured, game-oriented lesson plan (training provided).
- Commit to program reliability by arriving punctually each week for the entirety of the season.
- Participate in an in-person orientation training session.
- Maintain positive interactions with parents, teachers, and school staff.
- Set up and clean up before and after each class.
- Transport tennis coaching equipment to and from class weekly.
Class Locations:
This position entails coaching at various ANTS partner elementary schools within San Leandro and the greater East Bay area. We will work with you to assign locations that best suit your preferences.
Schedule:
Classes typically occur between 3 and 6 p.m. on a consistent day each week throughout a 10 to 14-week season. You must be available in the afternoons on your designated program day, coaching at least once a week, with classes lasting 1 to 1.5 hours. Some programs may offer back-to-back sessions for different age groups.
Qualifications:
- Transportation: Reliable transportation to coaching sites is essential, as you may need to transport equipment.
- Professionalism: Arrive punctually for each practice and maintain accurate attendance records.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with ANTS, parents, and site staff through emails and phone calls.
- Enthusiasm: A fun-loving attitude and eagerness to work with children are crucial!
