As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in patient registration, admissions, and related tasks, which includes gathering and verifying information and managing orders and services. Your responsibilities will also include handling insurance-related tasks such as verification, co-payment collection, and processing necessary paperwork. Additionally, you will perform administrative duties, answer phones, and coordinate general requests efficiently.
- Facilitate patient registration by explaining and obtaining necessary consents and authorizations promptly, along with collecting required financial paperwork (e.g., patient responsibility statements) and co-payments.
- Provide exemplary customer service by responding to patient inquiries and needs through various communication channels, ensuring timely and clear communication.
- Address non-clinical questions effectively while maintaining high standards of customer service, whether on the phone or in person.
- Conduct ongoing documentation audits for medical necessity and plans of care, ensuring compliance with various payor requirements, including Medicare, using computer-based systems.
- If assigned to a procedure-focused department, schedule appointments for procedures and educate patients on pre-exam and post-exam requirements as necessary.
- Establish and maintain patient files, ensuring timely and organized scanning of medical records.
- Manage incoming correspondence, including mail, email, faxes, and phone calls, directing queries to the appropriate personnel.
