The Patient Access Specialist plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between healthcare providers and insurance payers by collecting essential information regarding patient insurance and coverage for specific pharmaceutical products. This position is dedicated to assisting healthcare providers with inquiries related to coding, billing, and navigating intricate reimbursement challenges. Additionally, the specialist will oversee the Prior Authorization (PA) process for an assigned caseload and guide patients through the appeals process to ensure access to necessary medications.
- Facilitate the progression of cases in line with company policies and organizational standards, ensuring a high level of service and quality.
- Perform comprehensive benefit investigations by contacting payers to confirm patient insurance details, addressing complex reimbursement obstacles, and sourcing solutions to overcome these barriers.
- Verify patient-specific benefits, documenting essential details such as coverage, cost-sharing, and provider access options.
- Identify coverage limitations and provide strategies to expedite patient access to medications.
- Document and initiate the prior authorization process and assist with claims appeals.
- Report any reimbursement patterns or coverage delays to management.
- Act as an effective liaison between field representatives, healthcare providers, and patients.
