Join our team as a Patient Care Technician in the Delnor Departure Lounge, where your role is essential in delivering quality patient care during full-time day shifts.
Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts per week from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, including every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays.
The Patient Care Technician embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, as well as complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Under RN supervision, perform fundamental patient care activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver basic nursing care as delegated by an RN, which includes monitoring vital signs, performing blood glucose checks, and documenting intake and output.
- Assist patients with personal care and daily living activities, such as bathing, grooming, and eating.
- Report any abnormal findings or changes in patients' physical, mental, or emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Help maintain cleanliness and order in patient rooms.
- Exhibit flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in stressful situations.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize and complete unit tasks efficiently as patient and staff needs evolve.
- Act as a liaison among patient care units and other related departments.
- Answer phone calls and intercom messages politely, relaying information to the appropriate team members or patients.
- Assist in managing overall unit workflow alongside the charge RN and/or assistant manager as required.
- Conduct pre-census activities and validate daily admission, discharge, and census lists as needed.
