About the Role
As the People Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining a robust people operations foundation that supports our expanding team at Chalk. Your responsibilities will include overseeing core HR systems and processes, facilitating the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding, and ensuring our people programs evolve in line with the company’s growth.
This operationally-focused role is designed for those who thrive in creating efficient systems that enable rapid team expansion while preserving an exceptional employee experience. You will also ensure that Chalk offers attractive compensation and benefits packages to draw in and retain top talent.
Your duties will encompass maintaining precise employee records, assisting with payroll and benefits administration, and acting as a trusted resource for employee inquiries regarding HR processes and policies.
This position is located in our San Francisco office and extends support to employees in our San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York locations.
We expect full office attendance five days a week, with flexibility for unavoidable conflicts. Note that this is not a hybrid role.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding HR processes, policies, and benefits
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including I-9 verification, systems access, and exit procedures
- Ensure accuracy of employee data within our HRIS (Rippling) and assist with reporting, audits, and data integrity
- Collaborate with the Finance team to support payroll reviews and benefits administration
- Evaluate, select, and manage benefits programs and vendors to maintain competitive offerings
- Assist in compensation planning and benchmarking to ensure alignment with market standards.
