Join MPI Exeter as a skilled Pipe Fabrication Machine Operator on the 2nd shift, where you will play a vital role in our machining operations. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately measuring, threading, and adjusting flange fits on ductile or steel pipes. Your expertise will include operating various manual machine tools such as lathes and threaders, as well as handling cranes to efficiently move pipes in and out of machining centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize personal safety and the safety of your team members.
- Collaborate with supervisors to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including fall protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection.
- Ensure cleanliness in your assigned work area.
- Promote the McWane Way principles actively.
- Adhere to all processes related to the Waterman Safety Management Program and report any discrepancies.
- Identify specific fabrication requirements for each pipe.
- Operate forklifts to transport pipes within the facility.
- Utilize a pipe cut-off saw as necessary.
- Set pipes in machines, ensuring they are centered and secure for work, and verify measurements for thread depth and taper accuracy.
- Test flanges to ensure proper fitting onto pipes after threading.
- Apply adhesives on pipes and flanges, tightening them using machinery.
- For threaders, remove pipes post-operation and prepare for subsequent processes.
- For lathes, run cutting tools to ensure a precise flush fit of flanges onto pipes.
- Handle pipes and flanges ranging from 3” to 24” in diameter and lengths from 6 inches to 18 feet.
- Meet production output objectives while maintaining quality standards.
- Paint and package finished products.
- Employ basic math skills and read measuring instruments such as tape measures and micrometers.
- Exhibit a solid understanding of machinery processes.
- Consistently attend work punctually.
- Assist across various machines as needed.
- Demonstrate a positive, hardworking attitude.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle tools and controls.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
