Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Monitoring & Auditing:
- Perform regular scheduled and ad-hoc audits and inspections of company vehicles (HGVs, LGVs, company cars, etc.) and plant machinery (excavators, forklifts, telehandlers, etc.) across all operational sites.
- Ensure adherence to all statutory regulations, including DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) requirements, PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations), LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations), and other relevant health and safety legislation.
- Verify compliance with roadworthiness standards, maintenance schedules, and equipment certification.
- Monitor and audit driver and operator compliance, including driving hours, tachograph regulations, licence checks, and necessary training certifications.
- Policy & Procedure Development:
- Assist in the creation, review, and implementation of effective vehicle and plant compliance policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
- Stay updated on changes in legislation and industry standards to ensure continuous compliance.
- Investigation & Reporting:
- Investigate compliance breaches, incidents, and near misses related to vehicles and plant, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed compliance reports for management, highlighting trends, risks, and recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of all compliance activities, inspections, audits, and corrective actions taken.
- Training & Awareness:
- Develop and conduct training sessions and toolbox talks for employees, drivers, and plant operators on compliance requirements and safe operating procedures.
- Foster a proactive safety and compliance culture throughout the organization.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential compliance risks and proactively implement measures to mitigate them.
