Join our dedicated team at the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Flowood, where the Pre-Operative and PACU Nurse plays a vital role in delivering exceptional care to surgical patients. This position involves comprehensive monitoring, assessment, intervention, and medication administration to ensure optimal patient outcomes during the pre-operative and post-anesthesia phases. You will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to meet departmental objectives and uphold established protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, instruct, and prepare patients for surgery
- Administer safe and personalized nursing care during the immediate postoperative and post-anesthesia periods
- Verify that operative and informed consents are signed and accurate
- Assess patients, monitor vital signs, and confirm readiness for surgical procedures
- Initiate IV lines and educate patients about their procedures
- Document all observations and care provided in the patient’s medical record
- Maintain effective communication with patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues
- Monitor patients for any changes in their condition and report findings to physicians
- Enhance professional competence through continued education and training
- Conduct ongoing assessments of post-surgical patients to determine readiness for discharge
- Provide education to patients and their families on procedures and follow-up care
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the department lead
