About the job
Join the Southern Poverty Law Center as President & Chief Executive Officer
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is a leading organization dedicated to fighting for racial justice and equality in the South and beyond. We are on a mission to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and uphold the human rights of all individuals. Established in 1971, SPLC continues to champion the ideals of the Civil Rights Movement by engaging in both legal advocacy and community efforts to eliminate systemic racism, combat violent extremist groups, and protect the rights of marginalized communities, including people of color, children, women, individuals with disabilities, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, and prisoners.
Our work spans five priority states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi, all of which hold pivotal historical significance in the Civil Rights Movement. Headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama, we also operate offices in Miami, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; New Orleans, Louisiana; Jackson, Mississippi; and Washington, D.C. This extensive network empowers SPLC to implement community-focused initiatives while crafting broader strategies to address systemic issues at both regional and national levels. By transforming the Deep South, SPLC is paving the way for progress across the country.
