We are seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to enhance our expanding Water team in Birmingham, Leeds, Chesterfield, or Manchester. As a vital member of a collaborative and innovative multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to transformative projects that enhance daily life across the UK and beyond.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage in some of the most prominent and fulfilling infrastructure programs within the water sector. We partner with water and sewerage providers, local authorities, and national clients on diverse projects, ranging from upgrading treatment facilities to shaping sustainable, resilient growth strategies.
Join a dynamic local team of high-performing civil engineers with expertise from apprentice to director levels, integrated into our national Water team. This position allows you to provide technical leadership, mentor early-career colleagues, and support their development through line management and training agreements. You'll also have opportunities to enhance your project and client management skills while advancing your technical expertise, with clear pathways for career growth.
Noteworthy Projects Include:
- Significant upgrades of sewage and water treatment facilities at Wanlip, Matlock, and Worcester for Severn Trent.
- CSO investigations and solutions for Anglian Water and Scottish Water (Caledonia Water Alliance).
- Local infrastructure initiatives for Derbyshire County Council and Derby City.
- Strategic consulting for national clients including DEFRA, Network Rail, and National Highways.
Our work spans the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility and design to delivery and asset management, providing variety, challenge, and purpose.
Your Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers, modellers, environmental scientists, and other specialists to deliver exceptional water and wastewater projects.
- Engage in all design phases, from conceptualization to detailed design and technical reporting.
- Employ innovative and practical solutions to address real-world engineering challenges.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Lead the technical execution of major projects and review work produced by team members.
- Effectively manage project scope, budget, and timelines.
- Foster strong client relationships through regular updates and technical support.
- Mentor and assist early-career professionals within your team.
