About the job
Business Unit
As a key division of Xodus Group, Evolv Energies is leading the charge on significant international projects, offering a distinctive integrated approach alongside specialized engineering expertise. We support offshore developers, investors, and the broader construction and installation supply chain throughout the phases of Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design, and across Construction and Installation activities.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer – Cable Systems to engage in diverse project scopes, including offshore wind (both fixed and floating) and subsea cables (transmission and distribution). In this role, you will deliver technical expertise and guidance in defining and executing Electrical Engineering and Cable Systems requirements, including tendering processes, to enhance our engineering and construction service projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering initiatives for HVAC and HVDC cable systems through all project phases including Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design.
- Conduct hands-on engineering tasks such as cable sizing, rating studies, thermal modeling, and bonding and earthing design.
- Establish and manage interfaces with offshore substations, HVDC converters, grid connections, and installation engineering teams.
- Assist in concept selection and early-stage technical assessments, including HVAC vs HVDC optioneering.
- Provide technical insights into installation methodologies and cable protection strategies (burial, rock placement, CPS selection).
- Engage in both offshore and onshore assignments, offering installation support, FAT/SAT witnessing, and technical oversight during construction and commissioning phases.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks to ensure constructability, operability, and compliance with relevant standards such as IEC, CIGRÉ, and DNV.
- Work collaboratively across multiple concurrent projects to produce high-quality engineering outputs.
- Proactively collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering and project delivery teams to foster technical assurance and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- A hands-on engineer with a proactive attitude, capable of working seamlessly with teams at all levels.
- Degree-qualified (Chartered Engineer (CEng)) in Electrical Engineering with substantial experience (typically 12+ years) in high-voltage cable systems, including HVAC and HVDC.
- Proven expertise in offshore wind, subsea cables, transmission, and interconnector projects, with a strong grasp of electrical design and power system performance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with cable OEMs, installers, TSOs/DNOs, and key project stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in generating and reviewing detailed engineering deliverables across various project phases.
