SEARCH is excited to announce an immediate opening for a Principal Investigator to join our dynamic Caribbean Division team. This remote position is tailored for individuals preferably located in Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, with a strong emphasis on experience in conducting cultural resources compliance studies across the Caribbean region. Our ideal candidate will possess a robust background in cultural resource management and demonstrate proficiency in managing archaeological projects.
The successful applicant should have exceptional technical writing skills, enabling them to produce detailed reports for evaluation by subject matter experts on behalf of federal, state, and tribal agencies under the Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Environmental Policy Act, among other related laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the highest professional standards when engaging with clients, colleagues, media, and the public.
- Contribute to strategic decision-making regarding research priorities and provide insights into the viability of potential projects.
- Foster business and client relationships for SEARCH.
- Develop and implement SEARCH protocols and procedures related to field methods, lab analyses, and report preparation.
- Prepare and present proposals for review by Sector Leaders and Management.
- Formulate research designs, outline research procedures, and offer training to junior staff to execute research tasks.
- Plan and oversee fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting efforts in alignment with project Scope of Work, budget, and timeline.
- Create comprehensive and defensible resource evaluations based on the National Register of Historic Places eligibility criteria, following 36 CFR §60.4 and relevant National Park Service guidelines.
