About the job
Join our dynamic team at Endava in London as a Principal Payments Architect. In this specialized architectural leadership position, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering enterprise-level payment platforms, encompassing everything from gateway and authorization layers to clearing, settlement, and financial management.
This position is ideal for individuals who excel in complex, high-pressure situations and adeptly navigate the nexus of business strategy and technical execution. You will engage throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initial discovery and architectural shaping to overseeing delivery—ensuring that our solutions are scalable, secure, commercially viable, and aligned with a long-term platform strategy.
Your responsibilities will include designing robust and maintainable architectures that effectively address real client challenges. You will outline target-state platforms, constructively challenge assumptions, and ensure that technology decisions are informed by solid domain expertise and quantifiable business outcomes.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design and assess scalable, resilient payment architectures that can handle high transaction volumes and meet stringent availability requirements.
- Define and oversee non-functional requirements such as latency, throughput, availability, recoverability, observability, and security.
- Develop API strategies, integration models, and event-driven or distributed system designs that facilitate extensibility and adhere to regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to PCI DSS scoping strategies and advocate secure-by-design approaches in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Participate in architectural governance discussions, representing Endava with clarity and authority.
- Assist in pre-sales and bid shaping activities by outlining credible, commercially viable target-state solutions.
- Translate architectural choices into clear narratives for executives, highlighting trade-offs, risks, and investment considerations.
You will be comfortable communicating with enterprise, solution, and data architects, as well as engaging in detailed technical discussions with engineering teams and strategic conversations with C-level stakeholders. When suitable, you will also explore the integration of emerging technologies—such as AI-driven optimization, intelligent routing, fraud modeling, and AIOps—ensuring that innovation is anchored in practical, value-driven use cases.
