We invite you to join our vibrant and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Wastewater Modeller. You will have the flexibility to work from one of our UK or Ireland offices, embracing our hybrid working model.
In this pivotal role, you will contribute significantly to impactful water projects both in the UK and internationally. Our work encompasses major flood alleviation schemes, pollution reduction initiatives, and infrastructure development, all of which will be essential for your ongoing professional development. Uniquely, our modelling team is fully integrated with broader project teams, allowing for collaborative solutions that address complex challenges.
As a recognized leader in Blue-Green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, we partner with public and private sector clients including Severn Trent, Anglian Water, Northern Ireland Water, the Environment Agency, LLFAs, and other infrastructure providers. Our services range from Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies to hydraulic models and detailed designs. We set industry benchmarks by advising on and crafting guidance that establishes best practices, keeping AECOM at the forefront of the water sector. This role offers an extraordinary chance to support a dedicated and diverse team committed to innovation, collaboration, and efficiency.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, calibration, and verification of wastewater network models (e.g., InfoWorks ICM or similar).
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across various projects, guiding broader project teams under general direction.
- Conduct and supervise technical and administrative tasks regarding hydrology and groundwater investigations to inform wastewater modelling studies.
- Deliver assignments that cover the broader field of hydrology and related technical disciplines, adhering to defined project terms with appropriate professional review.
- Analyze complex datasets and modelling outputs, preparing clear, high-quality technical reports and deliverables for clients.
- Monitor and interpret data to assess the impacts of upstream activities on wastewater systems and the environment, ensuring compliance with relevant permits and regulatory conditions.
- Act as the technical lead on major frameworks and modelling programs, supporting strategic planning, storm overflow reduction, and network resilience initiatives.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, contributing to bids and business development initiatives.
