Job Summary:
As a Produce Clerk, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service by pricing, stocking, and rotating merchandise in the Produce Department. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing produce section while adhering to safety and efficiency standards.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you should meet the following requirements:
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Basic math skills are essential.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of your scheduled shift.
- Physical capability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 60 lbs occasionally, along with standing, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Comfortable working with fresh, dried, and processed products, including spices and powders.
- Able to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping tasks.
- Adaptability to varying temperature conditions.
- Friendly and helpful interaction with customers.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.
- Willingness to adhere to assigned schedules and time and attendance policies.
Essential Job Functions:
Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting all customers and providing prompt, courteous service.
- Promoting current charitable initiatives to customers.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Demonstrating knowledge of various produce types, including taste, seasonal availability, preparation methods, and price differences.
- Following established procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and marking prices on products to ensure quality and proper rotation.
- Upholding sanitation and quality assurance standards, including sweeping, mopping, and disposing of refuse as needed.
- Operating a baler and compactor.
- Complying with local, state, and federal regulations related to produce operations.
