Our projects encompass the entire Defence estate, including accommodation, training, operational facilities, secure technology, aviation, and specialized infrastructure. As a member of our integrated delivery team, you will play a crucial role in shaping, planning, and executing projects that enhance the operational capabilities of UK Defence, ensuring that our Armed Forces have the essential facilities to operate efficiently and safely.
About the Role
As a Project Manager specializing in Defence Infrastructure, you will become part of a well-established program and project management team within AECOM’s Defence sector. Your role will involve supporting multi-disciplinary teams throughout all RIBA phases, from initial concepts and feasibility studies to design, procurement, construction, and final handover.
This position requires management of NEC contracts (PSC and ECC), ensuring adherence to MOD and DIO governance frameworks, while collaborating closely with client stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to achieve reliable, value-driven outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist and, when appropriate, lead the successful execution of Defence infrastructure projects across all RIBA stages, ensuring compliance with DIO, JSP, and MOD approval frameworks.
Provide project support to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring delivery within established program timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
Serve as NEC Project Manager or Client Representative, ensuring robust contract and commercial management.
Foster and maintain productive relationships with DIO, TLBs, and site users, promoting collaboration across various organizations.
Mentor and support the development of junior project managers, graduates, and apprentices through practical training and guidance.
Ensure project alignment with sustainability, security, and safety requirements, reflecting the governance standards of AECOM and the MOD.
Essential Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly within MOD, DIO, or Crown commercial frameworks.
Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, preferably with accreditation or equivalent experience as a Project Manager.
Proven track record in supporting complex multidisciplinary teams in design and construction delivery.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
Proficient in contemporary project management and digital tools, including MS Project and collaborative delivery platforms.
Strong client-facing capabilities with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders.
