International Health and Medical Services invites applications for the role of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. This vital position will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a variety of mental health disorders in patients, ensuring they receive optimal psychiatric care and support. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will collaborate closely with the healthcare team to implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and provide necessary crisis intervention, all aimed at enhancing mental health and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment of psychiatric patients, including family units, offering urgent and emergent mental health care, public health management, and case management, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
- Operate under the clinical supervision of the Chief of Psychiatry and Clinical Director, adhering to a completed Scope of Practice agreement.
- Follow established psychiatric and medical care principles while complying with the Scope of Practice and outlined policies.
- Consult with behavioral health professionals for the management of complex psychiatric conditions.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Coordinate patient care, off-site referrals, and collaborative tasks through various appointment formats.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic psychiatric disorders, providing counseling and prescribing medications as necessary.
- Operate within the frameworks of state collaborative practice and prescriptive authority agreements.
- Utilize expertise in pharmacology when prescribing medications, ensuring safety and monitoring for potential risks.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests relative to the psychiatric needs of detainees.
- Implement evidence-based tools to assess risks associated with medication-induced movement disorders.
- Provide urgent mental health evaluations and take decisive action based on established policies, including the use of psychotropic medications when necessary.
- Adhere to policies for managing significant mental illnesses, including prevention of harmful ideations.
- Offer telepsychiatry services to patients at other facilities as required, coordinating with local primary care providers.
