Join the Bureau of Public Health Clinics as a Consultant Public Health Nurse, contributing to the vital mission of enhancing the sexual health of New Yorkers. This part-time position (25 hours/week) involves directly providing clinic services, monitoring disease trends, and delivering education and training to both healthcare providers and community groups. The Bureau operates eight STI clinics throughout New York City, striving to improve sexual health and wellness.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Regional Nursing Supervisor, providing compassionate, patient-centered care that adheres to the highest nursing standards. You will advocate for and protect the rights and health of patients, conducting assessments, administering medications, and educating individuals on various sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV, Monkey Pox, and TB. You will also assist with medication abortion services, managing both in-clinic care and a Telemedicine hotline to address patient inquiries.
Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough medical interviews, obtaining demographic data, and determining patient care needs based on their complaints and medical history. You will support clinicians and social workers in reviewing intake forms and accommodating partner-related concerns.
