The Purchasing Manager Role
As the Purchasing Manager, you will lead the NSK Purchasing Team to achieve strategic financial, quality, safety, and warranty goals. This position requires you to effectively manage a team of departmental leaders, including Commodity Buyers, MRO Purchasing personnel, Supplier Quality, and Facilities management. Proven management experience is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate SAP launch initiatives for Procurement, including:
- Engagement with the SAP cross-functional team
- Formulation of the SAP implementation strategy and readiness monitoring
- Preparation of SAP monthly reports, tracking development plans versus actuals
- Facilitation of the transition from Oracle to SAP systems – S4 Hana & Ariba
- Oversight of SAP training for both Procurement buyers and Suppliers
- Lead internal and external SAP issue resolution efforts
- Identify and cultivate key talent within the purchasing team to enhance overall departmental success.
- Oversee the tactical operations of materials management and purchasing functions, along with any additional responsibilities assigned.
- Collaborate closely with the inventory management team to maintain accurate forecasting and inventory control.
- Engage with various functional areas including Sales, Product Management, Program Management, Engineering, and Warehouse operations to ensure seamless alignment of activities and objectives.
- Explore vendor opportunities and challenges, partnering with product management for effective resolution.
- Lead contract negotiations and discussions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Support and drive innovation initiatives and Corporate Social Responsibility, including Carbon Neutrality efforts.
- This role requires 10-20% travel for facility and supplier visits.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required.
- Significant experience in purchasing and procurement management is essential.
- Proven leadership capabilities with a track record of managing diverse teams.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in procurement software, particularly SAP.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel as required for the role.
