Role Overview:
As a Purchasing Specialist, you will play a vital role in managing supply inventory levels essential for the seamless operation of our organization. This position involves negotiating agreements with vendors and conducting regular price assessments to ensure STEICO obtains the best value for all procured products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, assess, and qualify suppliers in alignment with STEICO's established processes for the procurement of raw materials, fittings, and external services.
- Conduct regular site visits to suppliers to uphold quality and delivery standards.
- Generate and analyze vendor delivery reports, collaborating with the Quality Department regarding vendor performance.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and current open order reports in a centralized database.
- Issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to vendors, specifying unique requirements, and review purchasing demand reports.
- Evaluate bids, negotiate pricing and terms for goods and services.
- Create purchase orders for immediate and long-term procurement of materials, supplies, and services under favorable terms for STEICO.
- Confirm order readiness with vendors and prepare Driver Logs for scheduled pickups.
- Prepare Return Purchase Order (RPO) documentation for returns, including replacements or credit memos.
- Coordinate with the Accounting Department to update or rectify purchase orders from suppliers or external processors.
- Engage in meetings with vendors and STEICO regarding open order statuses and priority items, ensuring MRP system updates for accuracy.
- As a backup, review blueprints and specifications to ensure correct revisions and manufacturers are utilized prior to procurement of fittings and hardware.
- Implement processes for evaluating inventory levels and determining purchasing needs based on quarterly and annual forecasts.
- Perform additional duties as required by business and operational needs.
