GENERAL SUMMARY:
As a Radiologic Technologist at Henry Ford Health, you will play a crucial role in patient care by performing diagnostic imaging procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist. You will apply independent judgment in executing radiographic techniques, ensuring optimal patient safety and comfort.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively communicate examination procedures to patients and prepare them adequately for the process.
- Review clinical information and gather medical history to perform the necessary examinations.
- Maintain a clean and organized procedure room, ensuring all supplies are stocked and ready for use.
- Analyze patient anatomy, set up imaging equipment, and carry out radiologic procedures while ensuring high-quality diagnostic output.
- Select and administer intravenous contrast media when required, monitoring the patient for any adverse reactions.
- Implement radiation safety protocols, utilizing shielding and ALARA principles to minimize exposure.
- Prepare sterile equipment and supplies, adhering to infection control practices to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Document all procedures accurately, including maintaining patient records and logs.
- Assist in training new staff and students while managing your own responsibilities effectively.
- Utilize PACS for image management, ensuring high-quality images are delivered and properly indexed in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Collaborate with Radiologists to confirm clinical protocols prior to examinations.
- Exhibit team member standards of excellence, including effective communication and prompt responses to patient needs.
