The Intern will become an integral part of StepStone's Real Estate Team in Beijing, gaining invaluable experience within the real estate sector. This role offers the opportunity to engage collaboratively in evaluating investment prospects across real estate private fund investments, co-investments, and secondary investments within the Asia Pacific region. Interns will be exposed to diverse property types, markets, and capital structures, familiarizing themselves with various real estate private equity funds and investment strategies.
Key Internship Responsibilities
- Support both the advisory and investment teams in vital functions, including:
- Underwriting and evaluating prospective fund managers for our advisory capital
- Assessing potential investments and managing assets within the existing real estate portfolio
- Conduct market research utilizing publicly available data and proprietary databases to identify and analyze macroeconomic trends across various property types
- Analyze financial reports from operating fund managers, including reviewing investment track records, financial statements, and fund models
- Prepare for and participate in meetings with fund managers, assisting in ongoing due diligence for active investments and advisory roles
- Effectively communicate positions both verbally and in writing, including defending viewpoints during discussions such as Investment Committee meetings
Timing and Location
- Immediate start at StepStone, ideally for six months (minimum three months commitment).
- This position is based in Beijing with a requirement for in-office presence most days.
Qualifications
- Current Junior or Rising Senior pursuing or holding a BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
