Position Overview:
Join our dedicated team as a Recreation Therapy Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of diverse recreation programs and services. Collaborate with our skilled professionals to design and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the individual preferences and needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Recreation Therapist in creating therapeutic recreation programs.
- Facilitate recreation participation programs aligned with patient interests.
- Contribute to the recreation therapy intervention plan, providing timely reports on significant observations to the Recreation Therapy team and other stakeholders.
- Be an active member of interprofessional teams.
- Supervise volunteers, high school co-op students, college placement students, and others as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely Recreation Therapy records including GRASP, MDS, recreation statistics, program descriptions, and evaluations.
- Conduct ongoing informal evaluations of recreation programs.
- Manage program requirements, including facilities, budget, equipment, and supplies, and purchase items as necessary.
- Prepare posters, employee expense forms, equipment setup requests, and the Recreation Therapy calendar; book entertainment and complete patient meal forms as required.
- Participate in the orientation and mentorship of new staff and colleagues.
- Identify continuous learning opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Engage in evidence-based, person-centered practices related to recreation therapy.
- Maintain awareness of safety conditions and measures affecting patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians, and visitors, including compliance with hospital safety standards and legislation.
