The Regional Head of Corporate Banking for Southern Africa plays a pivotal role in spearheading, expanding, and overseeing Access Bank’s Corporate Banking operations within the Southern Africa region. This dynamic position involves executing the regional business strategy, cultivating corporate partnerships, and enhancing client satisfaction through effective product cross-selling, all while ensuring credit quality aligns with the Bank’s risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and drive the origination of new business opportunities within the region.
- Develop and nurture relationships with corporate banking clients, focusing on both strategic and flow products.
- Craft strategies to onboard prospective clients aligned with the One Bank and Regional Corporates initiative.
- Enhance and elevate existing client relationships.
- Engage in strategic dialogues and maintain robust relationships with clients across designated markets.
- Generate new business opportunities across Treasury, Trade, Project Finance, and Global Transaction Banking.
- Assess and mitigate credit, market, and operational risks associated with transactions in partnership with product teams.
- Lead negotiations and finalize deals for major opportunities within the portfolio.
- Act as the first line of defense against regulatory and compliance risks within the designated portfolio.
- Ensure credit quality of client relationships meets the standards set by the Bank’s management.
- Meet both quantitative and qualitative performance targets.
- Identify and develop cross-selling opportunities to enhance the bank's overall cross-sell ratio.
- Ensure timely submission of credit reviews and adherence to agreed conditions.
- Monitor portfolio health and address any financial or regulatory issues promptly.
- Establish connections at the Senior C-suite level or equivalent contacts.
- Facilitate discussions with clients and internal stakeholders regarding business growth and potential collaborations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
