The Registered Nurse - Inpatient Care embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM). This position requires a clinically competent, registered professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients. Utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, the Registered Nurse will effectively interact with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members, all while upholding the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professional nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze patient data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward achieving outcomes.
- Direct patient care, determining the appropriate use of assistants involved in delivering direct care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to create a documented care plan focused on outcomes and effective communication.
- Engage in shared governance, participate in committee work, and contribute to unit projects.
- Assess and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record, tailoring the care plan based on evaluations.
- Utilize the best available evidence, including research findings, to inform practice decisions.
