THE JOB
At VEG, we’re not merely hiring assistants; we’re cultivating future emergency care superstars. As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you’ll dive right into the action from day one, supporting your team, comforting pet parents, and acquiring hands-on experience in real-time. You will be involved in triage, treatments, and witnessing those joyful tail wags. Your journey begins here, where careers flourish and develop. Whether you aspire to become a credentialed technician or are exploring your passions, we are committed to supporting your growth every step of the way.
WHAT YOU’LL DO*
- Provide a warm welcome and consistent support by triaging incoming patients and directing them toward appropriate care.
- Assist with various treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics—including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with our skilled veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
- Engage in all aspects of patient care, from outpatient visits to inpatient treatments, ensuring continuity of care.
- Participate in patient rounds to maintain an up-to-date understanding of clinical conditions.
- Learn CPR techniques and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
- Advance into more complex responsibilities as your skills grow.
