ABOUT THE ROLE
At VEG, we don’t just recruit assistants—we nurture future emergency care leaders. As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you'll be at the forefront of our operations from day one, providing crucial support to your team, comforting anxious pet parents, and gaining hands-on experience in real-time. You will engage in triage, treatment, and all the joyful moments that come with caring for animals. Whether you aspire to become a credentialed technician or explore your passion in veterinary care, we will support your growth at every stage of your journey.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a warm welcome and reliable support, triaging incoming patients and guiding them toward necessary care
- Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placements, and oxygen support
- Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to prepare and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures
- Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration
- Support every aspect of patient care: from outpatient to inpatient settings, and from exam rooms to treatment areas
- Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care
- Learn CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided!)
- Advance into more responsibilities as you gain experience
