JOB SUMMARY
As a Respiratory Care Practitioner II at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional care to our neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients. This position entails performing diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as per the Respiratory Care Services clinical practice guidelines, always in alignment with physician orders. You are expected to carry out all essential functions required of a Respiratory Care Practitioner Level I.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions outlined below are representative of the responsibilities typical for this role, and are not intended to be an exhaustive list. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Assist in the orientation and training of Level I and Level II respiratory therapists and students.
- Conduct intra-hospital transports while managing mechanical ventilators and ensuring the safety of airway protection devices in MRI settings.
- Administer specialty gases including Nitric Oxide, Nitrogen, and Heliox competently.
- Initiate and maintain pulmonary vasodilators effectively.
- Complete comprehensive orientations in all intensive care units and acute care settings.
- Evaluate and assess the appropriateness of medical orders.
- Engage in clinical rounds with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond to consults in the emergency department promptly.
- Provide education to patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
- Interpret clinical data to enhance patient care objectives.
- Actively participate in emergency responses across all service areas and serve on the code/rapid response team.
