About the Role
The Rural Land Manager is pivotal in identifying promising land opportunities, engaging with landowners and agents, and overseeing the onboarding process for Habitat Bank establishment. You will collaborate with our delivery team to create and manage Habitat Banks on farms throughout England.
Residing in Southern England is essential, with locations such as Bristol, Oxford, or Buckinghamshire/Hertfordshire being ideal.
This role demands excellent communication skills, collaboration with internal teams, and engagement with external stakeholders including farmers, landowners, and local authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and onboard new land opportunities for Habitat Bank establishment through liaison with landowners and agents.
- Prioritize Habitat Bank creation based on Local Authority BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain) credit demand and known purchaser demand, in collaboration with the sales team.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence to evaluate site suitability for Habitat Bank creation, coordinating with internal teams such as ecology, project delivery, legal, and finance.
- Navigate sites through internal governance processes, gathering and analyzing data to support targeted Habitat Bank creation, including reviewing local plan policies, agri-environment scheme information, and market sector reports.
- Collaborate within a project team to create habitats, execute capital works, and support ongoing site management, maintaining regular communication with landowners.
- Oversee the planning and consenting processes necessary for habitat creation.
- Engage in regional and national marketing events to promote Environment Bank and the concept of Habitat Bank creation.
